Suitable for: Aspirant leaders, subject leaders, middle leaders, class teachers and support staff

This workshop is particularly suitable for NQTs, LSAs and those who want to better understand progression through addition and subtraction.

Participants will look at the journey of learning from EYFS through to Year 6 and get practical hands on experience in how to calculate at each of these levels and how to teach for understanding. The day will involve the use of numerous concrete apparatus and mathematical structures and reasoning around how best to use these at each stage.

There will also be opportunities to share best practice and discuss strategies used to deepen children’s understanding in additive reasoning, looking at the relationships between operations and the importance of context.

Key Outcomes:

  • Participants will feel confident in their understanding of the progression through addition and subtraction
  • Participants will have a range of strategies for teaching addition and subtraction with conceptual understanding and feel confident in these.

Alliance members will receive a discounted price of £100.00 per delegate.
