This session will explore, in detail, one of the 5 big ideas for a Mastery approach to teaching Mathematics – cohesion. Whilst this session will explore the planning of a Mathematics sequence, we will delve much deeper into the cohesive journey that we want to take our children on to ensure that key concepts are embedded and key connections are made between prior and new learning.

As a Mastery big idea, cohesion is associated with the small, incremental steps that we guide our learners through to progressively build the solid foundations of understanding. Cohesion is clarity, purpose and depth of learning which creates successful learning through carefully crafted lessons and opportunities for exploration within Mathematics.

Key Outcomes:

  • Participants will develop their own understanding of cohesion as one of the 5 big ideas for a Mastery approach.
  • Participants will challenge their thinking around the planning of Mathematics and be encouraged to think deeply about the connections they have made.

Alliance members will receive a discounted price of £40.00 per delegate.
