Suitable for: Newly qualified teachers – Primary and Secondary
This is the seventh year of our highly successful NQT programme, suitable for both Primary and Secondary NQTs.
This programme is a series of five workshops held throughout the year in Good and Outstanding schools across Torbay and Devon, facilitated by experienced practitioners and Specialist Leaders of Education.
- 14th November 2018 @ Warberry C of E Academy, Torquay
- 21st January 2019 @ The Spires College, Torquay
- 14th March 2019 @ Preston Primary School
- 22nd May 2019 @ Ellacombe C of E Academy, Torquay
- 11th July 2019 TBC
Through live lesson observations in both primary and secondary settings, guided professional reading and facilitated discussion with fellow newly qualified teachers, NQTs will have time to reflect, network and be able to develop their understanding of best practice in the classroom.
Each time, we build upon the learning and pedagogy from previous sessions and workshops are interspersed with gap tasks to support NQTs’ successful completion of induction. The focus of the workshops is effective pedagogy and is based upon the work of John Hattie, Dylan William and Shirley Clarke.
Teachers explore the Ofsted framework and understand other documents such as Sutton Trust and EFF research. NQTs explore assessment for learning strategies and see them in practice in a range of settings. This enables them to try out strategies back in school, the very same day.
Key Outcomes: To develop knowledge and understanding of pedagogical practices such as effective ways to use formative and summative assessments, develop a deep understanding of feedback and to be able to select teaching and learning approaches based on evidence.
